“Hey there, I’m Laura.
I have just joined the team at DWSP as an Occupational Therapist after recently moving back to Melbourne. I work with people across the lifespan and enjoy working with individuals at every stage of life, whether it be starting kinder and learning to play or maintaining independence through the aging process. I enjoy hearing people’s stories and working collaboratively towards meaningful goals.
Before starting with DWSP, my most recent role was working as an OT within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO) in remote Northern Territory, supporting children, families and schools with limited access to allied health and therapeutic supports more broadly. This experience strengthened my adaptability, resourcefulness, creativity and appreciation for collaborative, culturally responsive and community-centred care. Also an opportunity to have an amazing adventure!
Outside of work, I am a doer and a mover! Always on the go, whether it be going for a bike ride, yoga, meeting a friend for a walk, cooking up something delicious or learning something new, although this leaves me with many projects that are a work in progress! In my quieter moods, I love to write and when I get into the writing flow I feel so relaxed the outside world seems to fade away.
I’m looking forward to meeting you and please reach out if you have any questions or think I would be a good fit for you or someone you support.”
