Christina Vo

Meet Christina

How long have you been with DWSP?

3 years now, with a maternity leave break in the middle to have my daughter.

In a couple of sentences, talk us through your role at DWSP

I work with children and adults with communication difficulties. I love working with children under 5 years of age and their families to develop their speech and language skills. Working with adults who have speech, language and voice difficulties is certainly rewarding too.

I also hold SOS certification, which is a sequential feeding program for children with eating and feeding difficulites.  I work alongside our OTs to continually develop our offerings and services for clients with sensory and feeding difficulties, as a way to integrate the SOS program for clients.

What is your favourite part of your role?

Hearing from parents that there’s been improvements in their child’s speech/language since the last session, or when families have reported positive changes in their child’s eating patterns.  Yay!

Where did you grow up?

I was born in Hong Kong, but I grew up in Melbourne.

Before DWSP, what was the most interesting or unusual job you’ve ever had?

I worked in a Optometrist teaching children how to wear and care for contact lenses.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Watching renovation shows; fixing up and decorating my house

If you could be a superhero, what would your superpower be?

Be able to speak and understand any language, wouldn’t that be useful!
