Welcome to our new Music Therapist – Lauren!

My name is Lauren, and I am excited to join the DWSP team and build a music therapy program here!

As a music therapist you’ll often see me with my guitar and using my voice, but I also play piano and clarinet. I started music from a very young age (4!) so it has been a big part of my life and who I am today. I have always known I wanted music to be part of my everyday life, but I also wanted to work within the healthcare sector too. So, when I came across music therapy there was just no turning back!

I joined the profession as a new grad during the first year of COVID and whilst it has been challenging working remotely and in acute hospital settings during a pandemic, I have absolutely loved every second of it! I am looking forward to bringing my skills from my experience to DWSP and working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team!

Outside of my clinical work I love playing an active role as a member of the Australian Music Therapy Association supporting other Registered Music Therapists and am currently the Chair of Social Media. I love presenting my clinical work at conferences and call me crazy, but I am working toward a PhD too!

When I don’t have my music therapy hat on I love spending time with family and friends enjoying yummy food, playing with my pets and spending time at my happy place, the beach! You might even see me catch a wave on my boogie board or kayaking in the bays!
