Laura joined the DWSP team in 2019, bringing her skills and experience from community health to our team.
She has a passion for working with children with special needs (including Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Developmental Delay, Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy) and working holistically to support their communication development, in partnership with families and communities to achieve the best outcome for her clients. Laura’s warmth and integrity shine through in her focus and advocacy for her clients, and we love having her in the DWSP team with the thoughtfulness and care she brings to our workplace.
During her career, Laura has continued to develop her professional practice in early intervention and Alternative and Augmentative Communication. She is a certified provider of the Hanen program “It Takes Two to Talk’, and has been trained to support the use of PECS and PODD books as communication aids. She is a registered member of the Speech Pathology Australia Certification program.
Laura believes in the importance of providing client-centred and evidence-based therapy to all of the children and adults that she works with. The experience she brings from the early childhood intervention sector provided her with an understanding of the importance of being respective and responsive to the clients and their family’s needs, and she enjoys learning about her clients and understanding the best ways she can support them to meet their goals.
Laura works at our Thornbury and Footscray clinics and some schools, and offers weekend and evening appointments.
