We welcome Dilinie back from Alice Springs!

Hello. My name is Dilinie and I’m very excited to be joining the DWSP team this year. I
have always loved working with children and became a speech pathologist because I
loved the idea of helping children learn the power of communication. I love my job as I
get to play with children all day and get paid for it!

My family and I have recently relocated to Melbourne after spending almost 7 years living in the desert.  My husband and I made the decision in 2012 to use our skills in the field
of disability to work with our indigenous community.  After leaving Melbourne for a 12-
month stint in Alice Springs, we returned almost 7 years later with 3 children in tow.

To say we loved our time in Alice Springs would be an understatement. Having grown up in the suburbs of Melbourne, I learnt to camp for the first time in my life in – 5C temperatures after only a few months of arriving in Alice Springs! My husband and I soon swapped our Subaru for a 4wd and enjoyed many a camping adventure. I learnt to live with the red dust and enjoyed the varied and breathtaking landscapes the desert offers.

Although Alice Springs has left its mark on us and will always be calling us to return, we
are enjoying being back with our families in Melbourne. I love exploring cosy cafes in
pursuit of a good latte, going for bushwalks and binging shows on Netflix!  I am working in both the Thornbury and Eltham clinics, and look forward to meeting you soon.
